Data Management and Governance Services

Don't Let Data Chaos Kill Your Profits

Allston Yale provides data management services for mid-market companies in Texas and across the USA. We get your sources organized, reconciled, and governed, so the numbers feeding your reports mean the same thing everywhere and nobody has to second-guess them.

01

When Two Reports Disagree

It usually starts in a meeting. Two people bring the same metric and two different numbers, and the next twenty minutes are spent arguing about the data instead of the decision. That argument is a data management problem, and no dashboard will fix it.

02

Why Clean Data Is Not Optional

Data chaos is a quiet profit killer. It shows up as decisions delayed while someone reconciles a figure, as reports nobody fully trusts, and as a team that keeps a private spreadsheet because the official number feels wrong. The cost is real even when it never appears on a budget line.

Clean, connected, trustworthy data is the unglamorous foundation everything else rests on. It is also the reason some companies act on their numbers quickly while others spend the first half of every meeting debating them.

03

How We Bring Order to Your Data

We start with the numbers that matter most and trace them back through every system that touches them. Where definitions differ, we settle them; where sources conflict, we reconcile them; where nobody owns a metric, we find an owner.

From there we put the practical structure in place: agreed definitions, clear ownership, quality checks that catch problems early, and documentation so the rules survive the next hire. The aim is data your team stops arguing about.

04

Governance Without the Bureaucracy

Governance has a reputation for committees and binders nobody reads. Ours is lighter than that. Our data governance consulting sets the few rules that actually prevent drift, who owns what, how a metric is defined, and who can change it, then gets out of the way.

05

Built for Lean Teams, Not a Data Office

A mid-market company cannot staff a data governance office, and it does not need one. We design rules a small team can follow without a dedicated steward, so good practice survives the busy quarter rather than collapsing the moment someone gets pulled onto something urgent.

06

Data Literacy Comes With It

Rules only hold if people understand them. As we go, we teach your team what the definitions mean and why they matter, so the person building next quarter’s reports knows which number to use and where it came from without having to ask.

07

Built on Power BI and Microsoft Fabric

We govern data where it lives, in Microsoft Fabric, and enforce it where people see it, in Power BI, through the semantic model and row-level security. See our Microsoft Fabric consulting page for the platform and our Power BI consultant page for the reporting layer.

08

Industry Experience

We provide data management services across the industries we serve, from oil and gas, energy, and manufacturing to healthcare, financial services, insurance, construction, and retail. Regulated sectors carry heavier obligations, and governance has to be built for them from the start.

That context matters more here than almost anywhere. A healthcare provider governing protected health information and a manufacturer reconciling production data face different rules, and we design the controls each one actually has to meet.

What working with Us Looks like

Clients rarely come asking for data management by name. They come because a number was wrong, an audit was painful, or leadership stopped trusting a report. What we leave behind is quieter: numbers that agree, and meetings that move on to the decision.

Common Questions

How is this different from building a data warehouse?

The warehouse is where data lives; management is what makes it trustworthy. The two go together, and we often do both, but you can have a perfectly good warehouse full of numbers people still argue about if nobody agreed on what they mean.

Do we need formal governance, or is that overkill?

Most mid-market teams need far less than they fear. A handful of agreed definitions, clear ownership, and a few quality checks solve the majority of it. We add formality only where a regulator or an auditor genuinely requires it.

Who owns the data once you are done?

Your team does, in every sense. We name owners for the metrics that matter, document the rules, and train the people who will apply them, so the structure keeps working long after our engagement ends.

What if our data is a genuine mess?

That is the usual starting point, and it is fine. We do not try to fix everything at once. We clean and govern the numbers your business depends on first, prove the difference, and expand from there rather than pausing the business for a grand cleanup.

Talk to Us About Your Data

If your meetings start with an argument about whose number is right, a short conversation will show what it would take to end that. Book a time and we will look at where your data loses its meaning and how to get it back.
